WHAT IS MALAYA?
Malayà [ ma-lie-yah ]
adj. free; independent
origin - Tagalog/Filipino
Malaya means 'to be free'. Free from stress and worries of everyday life, and the pain caused by injury. The word reminds us to relax and embrace the world, free of thought. It is taken from the Philippine language of Tagalog, which is part of the heritage of our founder, Kylie.

Kylie participated in sport from a very young age, competing at different levels within several areas including martial arts. This was a large part of her life for almost 20 years, and gave her the knowledge and skills of a 2nd Dan Black Belt. These sports constantly put her body under strain and she looked at different approaches to help her recover and repair. She had a firm interest in working hands on from a young age and discovered that she had the ability to massage and feel her way to the problem areas without being told where they were. With the encouragement of one of her instructors, she decided to take the therapy route and the journey began from there.
Since qualifying in 2007, Kylie has made it her mission to understand the body and what it asks of us. She has a passion for healing with an alternative approach and completes new courses yearly to be able to offer a more varied approach to each treatment, making sure each individual is treated to their needs.
